Game recap.
They often say in softball that if you don't score any runs, you won't win the game, and tonight
we proved that to be true. On another gorgeous evening, we scored no runs, but the opponent did, so
we lost.
At least there was a huge crowd there tonight, based on the parking lot at least. We were back to our
blue jerseys, with no names, and Jen Chamberlin was back to number 17. Amber Jackson was not there, having
some time off to attend a friend's wedding, but she should return tomorrow. Our offense definitely
missed her tonight.
Desiree pitched a great game, giving up just 5 hits while striking out 6. Unfortunately, one of those
hits was a line-shot 2-run home run to left by Iyhia McMichael, her 5th of the season.
(She is now tied with Sara Larquier for the league lead in that category.) Desiree falls to 7-3 on
the year. The Glory were only able to get 6 hits against Akron pitcher Jamee Juarez, who
went the distance as well for the win. She improves to 5-1.
Obviously, with only 6 hits, there wasn't a lot of offense to talk about. The opponents are starting
to take notice of Jessica Moore's power display, pitching her so carefully that she walked the first
2 times up.
We did threaten three times, getting the bases loaded with one out in both the 2nd
and the 5th, along with second-and-third with one out in the 4th. But the clutch hits just
weren't there tonight. After scoring 9 runs on 4 home runs last night, perhaps our bats just
needed a night off, and are now well rested for the remaining 2 games of the series.
