June 13, Glory Score 11 Runs over 2 Days, Racers Score None

    Game recap.

NPF website story never posted. Here's the Akron website story.

Okay, this is what I think happened, but the NPF recap is now missing from the website. The standings still show us at  8-3, so the win is still there, but the stats are not. This is based on the recap as originally posted.

The Friday night game got suspended by weather in the 3rd, according to Nicole's mom, and resumed today. Sarah Pauly started, then continued (and finished) when the game resumed on Saturday.

The Racers finally started Jamie Juarez, who was so effective against us last year. But not last nightt/today. She gave up 3 runs Friday night, then went back to the circle and gave up another before Radara McHugh came in to pitch.

With another Glory game tonight, and my own games (weather-permitting), plus 11 Glory runs, I'll just summarize briefly. In the third, Bures singled in English, running for Piper who had walked to start of the inning. Oli later doubled in Bures and Hughes. The 4th inning saw 2 more Glory runs, on a HR from Barber which also scored Hughes. We're up 5-0 after 4.

In the 5th, Bures started the inning with her 4th HR of the season, now tied for the league lead with my UVa girl Sara Larquier. This caused Akron to change pitchers (bringing in McHugh), but it only helped temporarily.

Already up 6-0, the Glory piled on in the 6th. After 1 out, McHugh walked Piper, then Bianca Cruz, who was hitting for Hughes. Akron changed pitchers again, bringing in Shannon Nicholson. Barber loaded the bases by reaching on an error. Jessica Moore pinch-hit for Morris, drawing another walk to score a run. Bures was then hit by a pitch, scoring another run. Oli then cleared the bases with a double. That makes 11, right? Okay, that's enough, we can stop now.

Pauly had another great game, allowing no runs, giving up just 4 hits and walking 2, while striking out 12. She leads the league lead in Ks and Wins (pending tonight's games, of course). Her win puts her at 4-1 for the year. Juarez falls to 0-1.

End Notes: Amber and Desi are off playing Team USA, going on as I write this. It's an ugly game. Desi started and gave up 3 runs, and Team NPF is now down 6-0 in the bottom of the 6th. So I'm not even going to post about that game.

This was the second straight errorless game by the Glory.

Bures got plunked yet again tonight (as did Dignon and Larquier). Bures still leads the league, with 5.
